Evaluating the Effectiveness of Financial Education

Efforts in Evaluation

With support from the Russia Financial Literacy and Education Trust Fund, the World Bank and OECD have both undertaken a number of evaluation initiatives.

The World Bank managed activities include:

  • Development and testing of standard methodologies for the assessment of financial education and other financial capability-enhancing programs, with a focus in low and middle income countries

  • Financing of individual country-based and cross-country comparative impact evaluations that target populations in low and middle income countries

  • Developing an engagement and dissemination strategy to ensure optimum integration with policy as well as the global community of practice

The OECD managed activities include:

  • Development of principles and guidelines for the evaluation of financial education programs

  • Review of programs, inventories, and related policy analysis on financial literacy and education
